The Tony Thompson Trio Plus One perfrom at the Mixx this Saturday June 1st from 7 til 9
Tony Thompson is performing June 1st at The mixx in Raleigh on June 1st.
The Tony Thompson Trio Plus One features Tony on jazz organ, Andy Trexler on drums, Chip Newton on guitar, and Debbie Naves on percussion. The engagement is free and open to the public. It begins at 6:oo Pm and ends at 8:oo PM. The repetoire will include tunes from this trio's organ release last October entitled Jazz Organ: IN Velvet. The sound is the classic Hammond organ trio popularized in American popular music in the 1950's. There will be many jazz standards and tunes associated with the Jazz Organ trios of the 1950s and 1960's. The music is largely blues idiomatically; otherwise it is Hard Bop. Some ballads. As Duke Ellington said however, there are only 2 types of music: good music and bad music. This should be good music!
